The role of the fashion industry and its strong influence on the way people look and act has been of great interest to me, particularly as it relates to young girls and women and their perceptions about their own self-images. Personal struggles in this area are not foreign to me. Many of the images used are figurative poses taken directly from fashion magazines. By taking them out of context, the figures become shapes that can be playfully arranged or used as an integral part of a decorative piece: people used as manipulated pieces. The science and psychology of body, mind and spirit are played out in visual forms. I would like to revisit this series using a broader range of precoats, postcoats and inetrated textures and patterns.
